About Ambrosia confertiflora DC.
Ambrosia confertiflora DC. is a perennial herb. It has erect, bristly, fuzzy stems that range in color from green to brown, and grows to heights between 30 centimeters and nearly two meters. Its fuzzy multilobed leaf blades can be nearly 16 centimeters long; leaves are borne on petioles that have lobed, winglike appendages. Like other ragweeds, this species produces inflorescences that hold both staminate (male) and pistillate (female) flower heads. Pistillate heads produce one or two fruits, which are burrs up to half a centimeter long and covered in short spines. It is native to much of northern Mexico, spanning from Sonora to Tamaulipas, and the southwestern United States, ranging from California east to Kansas, Oklahoma, and central Texas. It has become naturalized in many other regions, and has been classified as a noxious weed in Australia and Israel. It typically grows in disturbed sites.
