About Amaranthus deflexus L.

Amaranthus deflexus L. has several common names: low amaranth, Argentina amaranth, perennial pigweed, and large-fruit amaranth. It is native to South America and has been introduced to many warm and temperate regions across the world. This species is either a short-lived perennial or an annual plant, and it can grow up to 0.5 meters (1.5 feet) tall. Its flowering period occurs from summer through fall. It grows best in weedy areas and disturbed habitats. A natural hybrid between Amaranthus deflexus and Amaranthus muricatus, named Amaranthus × tarraconensis, has been documented in Europe.
