Amanita pantherinoides (Murrill) Murrill has a light brown cap 4โ€“10 cm (1.6โ€“3.9 in) wide. White warts cover the cap, and these warts sometimes wash away. Its stipe measures 5โ€“12 cm (2.0โ€“4.7 in) tall and 1โ€“2 cm (0.39โ€“0.79 in) wide. The mushroom has both a ring and a volva. This species is mycorrhizal, growing in association with conifers, particularly Douglas fir. It most often occurs in forests, but can occasionally be found in cities as well.
