About Amanita excelsa (Fr.) Bertill.
Amanita excelsa (Fr.) Bertill., commonly called the European false blushing amanita, is an agaric fungus species that belongs to the Amanitaceae family. It can be found growing in deciduous forests across Asia, Europe, and North America. Regarding its edibility and toxicity, the variety Amanita excelsa var. alba is inedible. The variety Amanita excelsa var. spissa is edible, but it is easily confused with the highly poisonous species Amanita pantherina.
