About Amanita battarrae (Boud.) Bon

Amanita battarrae, commonly called the grey-zoned ringless amanita, is a species in the Amanita genus. It occurs in Italy and eastern Europe, and is found during the fall season. This rare mushroom was first described in 1902 by French mycologist Jean Louis Émile Boudier, who originally classified it under the name Amanitopsis battarrae. In 1985, prominent French mycologist Marcel Bon (1925–2014) reclassified it to its currently accepted scientific name, Amanita battarrae. This species has been reported to be edible when cooked.
