About Alypia langtonii Couper, 1865

This moth species displays sexual dimorphism. Males have a total of eight spots, while females have six. The moths have black bodies, with white spots present on each wing. Their antennae feature banded white rings. The wingspan of the moth measures approximately 30 mm. Depending on location, adult moths are active in flight from May to July, producing one generation per year. The caterpillar larvae of this species feed on plants in the Chamaenerion genus, including fireweed.
