Althaea hirsuta L. (synonym Malva setigera) is commonly known by several common names: rough marsh-mallow, hairy marsh-mallow, hispid marsh-mallow, and hairy mallow. This species is an annual herb belonging to the mallow family, Malvaceae. It has a self-supporting growth form and produces simple, broad leaves. Mature individuals of this species can reach a height of 28 cm (11 in). Rough marsh-mallow is native to central Europe, the Mediterranean region, and the Caucasus. It has also been introduced to the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada.
