About Alternanthera denticulata R.Br.
Alternanthera denticulata R.Br. is a perennial herb that grows in a range from prostrate to erect forms, with stems that develop roots at their nodes. Stems are green with a pink flush, and range from sparsely hairy to completely hairless, while the nodes are tomentose, meaning they are covered in dense, intertwined hairs. Leaves measure (20-)30–80 mm long by 6–12 mm wide, and are colored light green, yellow-green, or pink-tinged; both the midrib and lateral veins are pink. Leaf margins are either finely toothed or entire. In Western Australia, this species grows on sand and clay soils along the banks of creeks, rivers, and in swamps, and flowers from April to August. On the North Island of New Zealand, it occurs in coastal and lowland wetlands, along lake margins, and on other damp ground, with a flowering period from January to December.
