About Alstroemeria aurea Graham

Alstroemeria aurea Graham is a herbaceous perennial that grows to 1 metre (3.3 feet) tall and 0.5 metres (1.6 feet) wide. It has brittle, fleshy roots, erect stems, and narrow leaves. In early to midsummer, it produces many orchid-like flowers in brilliant yellow and orange shades. Flowers may have heavy red or brown spotting or striping. When left undisturbed in favourable conditions, this plant spreads rapidly. In cultivation, it is one of the hardiest alstroemeria species, able to survive temperatures as low as −10 °C (14 °F). It grows best in a sheltered location with full sun or partial shade.
