About Alstonia actinophylla (A.Cunn.) Schumann

This species, Alstonia actinophylla (A.Cunn.) Schumann, grows as a tree reaching 3 to 25 meters in height. Its greenish-white flowers, which measure 1 cm across, grow in bunches at the ends of branches, and main flowering occurs from August through October. Shiny green leaves grow in clusters on outer branches; these leaves are 5–10 cm long and 2–4 cm wide. The paired, stringy fruit pods are 15 cm long, and they contain hairy black seeds. Alstonia actinophylla is found in southern New Guinea, and across tropical northern Australia. It grows in dry woodland, rocky terrain, along watercourse banks, and at rainforest fringes.
