About Alsophila aceraria (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775

Alsophila aceraria is a species of moth belonging to the family Geometridae. Its range extends from south-western Europe and France eastward to Germany, Austria, Italy, western Ukraine, the Balkan Peninsula, southern Crimea, the Caucasus, and Transcaucasus. This moth has a wingspan of 24 to 33 millimeters. Adults produce one generation per year, and are active in flight from mid-October to mid-December. The larvae of Alsophila aceraria feed on Quercus robur, Quercus petraea, Acer campestre, and species from the Fagus, Carpinus, and Prunus genera. Larvae can be found from April through June. The species overwinters in the egg stage.
