Alopecurus myosuroides Huds. can grow up to 80 cm tall, and often grows in tufts. Its leaves are hairless. The leaf sheath is smooth, and ranges in color from green to purplish. The pointed leaf blade is 3 to 16 cm long and 2 to 8 millimeters wide, is green in color, and has a rough texture. Its cylindrical spikelets are yellow-green, pale green or purple, and can reach 1 to 12 centimeters in length. This species flowers from May to August.
