About Aloe pretoriensis Pole-Evans

Aloe pretoriensis Pole-Evans is a species of the Aloe genus. It grows in discontinuous populations across northern South Africa, eastern Zimbabwe, and eastern Eswatini. This species inhabits rocky grassland, usually at higher altitudes. While it is not classified as threatened, human activity has caused population declines in the Bankenveld region of Gauteng. It blooms in winter, and its flowers are pollinated by both insects and birds. Its pointed flowers are arranged on elongated racemes, which grow from a distinctly tall, branched peduncle. This aloe forms a tight rosette of erect, thin pale green leaves; these leaves are noticeably thinner than the leaves of most other Aloe species. When leaf tips dry out, they turn reddish.
