About Allium tulipifolium Ledeb.

Allium tulipifolium Ledeb. is an Asian wild onion species. It is native to Xinjiang, Kazakhstan, and Altay Krai, and grows at elevations between 600 and 1000 meters. This species produces round to egg-shaped bulbs that can reach up to 20 millimeters in diameter. Its scape grows up to 40 centimeters tall and is round in cross-section. The leaves are flat, waxy, and up to 2 centimeters across. They are much shorter than the scape, and have a pink or dark green margin. Its umbel holds many flowers, and each flower's tepals are white with dark green or purple mid-veins.
