Allium textile A.Nelson & J.F.Macbr. produces egg-shaped bulbs up to 2.5 cm long, and does not grow rhizomes. Its scapes are round in cross-section, and reach up to 40 cm tall. The flowers are bell-shaped or urn-shaped, around 6 mm in diameter; tepals are white or pink with reddish-brown midribs, and both pollen and anthers are yellow. The native range of Allium textile extends across the Great Plains states from Oklahoma to Montana and Minnesota, as well as the Rocky Mountain and Great Basin states from northern New Mexico to Washington, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. An isolated population of this species has been reported in Indiana. Allium textile grows in dry, sunlit locations at elevations ranging from 300 to 2400 m.
