About Allium sacculiferum Maxim.

Allium sacculiferum Maxim., commonly known as northern plain chive or triangular chive, is an East Asian wild onion species. It is native to Japan, Korea, eastern Russia (specifically Amur Oblast, Khabarovsk, and Primorye), and northeastern China (specifically Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning). It grows along the banks of lakes and rivers at elevations below 500 meters. This species produces one or two egg-shaped bulbs that can reach up to 20 mm across. Its scapes grow up to 70 cm tall and are round in cross-section. The leaves are flat, shorter than the scape, and up to 5 mm across. It forms spherical umbels packed with many flowers, and its tepals range in color from lilac to reddish-violet with darker midveins.
