About Allium roseum L.

Allium roseum L. grows naturally to approximately 18 inches (46 cm) tall in well-drained soils, and blooms from late spring to early summer in its native European range. This species produces inflorescences in the form of umbels. Each umbel holds loose, fragrant florets that reach around 3 inches (76 mm) in length, with six pinkish to lilac tepals. The bulb has a strong scent and flavour powerful enough to repel squirrels and browsing deer from gardens where the plant is grown as an ornamental. Due to this deer and squirrel-repelling property, Allium roseum L. is suitable to use as a companion plant for tulips and similar plant species.
