About Allium moschatum L.
Allium moschatum is a Eurasian species of wild onion whose native range extends from Spain to Iran. It is a bulb-forming perennial plant. Flowers are produced in umbels at the top of thin, wiry flowering stalks (scapes) that are rarely more than 15 cm tall. Its tepals are white, with a thin but prominent purple midvein. The species typically grows in bush clearings, dry pastures, and stony environments. Two varieties that were formerly included under Allium moschatum are now reclassified as Allium korolkowii: Allium moschatum var. brevipedunculatum and Allium moschatum var. dubium.
