About Allium geyeri S.Watson
Allium geyeri S.Watson, a species of onion, is divided into three accepted varieties: Allium geyeri var. chatterleyi S.L.Welsh, which is found only in the Abajo Mountains of Utah; and Allium geyeri var. geyeri and Allium geyeri var. tenerum M.E.Jones, which both occur across most of the species' full range. Allium geyeri grows narrowly elongate bulbs that reach up to 25 millimeters in length. Its upright flowering stalks can grow as tall as 50 centimeters. The flowers of this species are shaped from bell-like to urn-like, and range in color from pink to white, with yellow pollen. Like many species in the Allium genus, Allium geyeri is pollinated by multiple types of bumble bee. Confirmed bumble bee pollinators of this onion include Bombus bifarius, Bombus centralis, Bombus flavifrons, Bombus huntii, Bombus melanopygus, Bombus sylvicola, Bombus occidentalis, and Bombus bohemicus.
