About Allium brevistylum S.Watson
Allium brevistylum is a plant species native to the western United States. It grows in meadows and along stream banks at high elevations in the mountains of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, between 2200 and 3400 m above sea level. This species produces a thick, Iris-like underground rhizome, with bulbs up to 3 cm in diameter growing at the ends of the rhizome. Its scapes can reach up to 60 cm in height, and are flattened with narrow wings. The flowers are urn-shaped and up to 15 mm long. The tepals are pink with thick midribs, and both the anthers and pollen are yellow.
