About Allium abramsii (Ownbey & Aase ex Traub) McNeal

Allium abramsii grows from one or more bulbs, each just over 1 centimeter wide, attached to a thick rhizome. The plant reaches a maximum height of about 15 centimeters, and usually produces a single curving cylindrical leaf that can grow up to one foot long. Its inflorescence holds up to 40 pink or purplish flowers, which have lance-shaped tepals and yellow anthers.

This species is endemic to the central Sierra Nevada in California, where it grows in the understory of coniferous forests in granite sand soils. It occurs in Fresno, Madera, and Tulare Counties, at elevations between 1400 and 2000 meters.
