About Aleimma loeflingiana (Linnaeus, 1758)
Aleimma loeflingiana is a species of moth in the family Tortricidae. This species is found in Europe and the Near East. Its wingspan measures 14–19 mm, which equals 0.55–0.75 inches. The forewings are narrower toward the anterior end, and are colored whitish-ochreous or pale ochreous, with more or less dark strigulation; sometimes the forewings are partially suffused with brown. The antemedian and central fasciae are outlined with fuscous or dark fuscous toward the costa, and sometimes this dark outlining occurs across the entire fasciae. Occasionally, the fasciae are partially or fully brown. The forewing cilia are whitish-ochreous, with a dark fuscous base. The hindwings are grey. Fully grown larvae are pale green, with black spots, a black head, and a black second segment plate. Julius von Kennel has published a full description of this moth. Adult moths fly from June to August, starting at dusk. The larvae feed on Carpinus betulus, oak, and maple.
