About Alectryon coriaceus (Benth.) Radlk.

Alectryon coriaceus, commonly called beach bird's eye or beach alectryon, is a rainforest tree belonging to the soapberry family, native to eastern Australia. Its specific epithet coriaceus references the tree's thick, leathery leaves. This species grows as a small tree reaching a maximum height of 11 metres. Its leaflets measure between 4 and 12 centimetres in length, and 2 to 7 centimetres in width. It is only found growing near the sea, along a coastal range stretching from Newcastle, New South Wales in the south to Maryborough, Queensland in the north. Its greenish yellow flowers have tiny petals, and bloom in December. This tree produces the typical red and black fruit characteristic of its genus, which matures between March and July.
