About Agropyron desertorum (Fisch. ex Link) Schult.
Agropyron desertorum (Fisch. ex Link) Schult. is a plant species in the grass family Poaceae. It has several common names: clustered wheat grass, desert crested wheatgrass, desert wheatgrass, and standard crested wheatgrass. Its accepted synonyms include Agropyron cristatum subsp. desertorum (Fisch. ex Link) A. Löve and Agropyron cristatum var. desertorum (Fisch. ex Link) Dorn. This species originated in Russian and Siberian steppes, and was introduced from that region to the United States between 1907 and 1913. Before it was introduced to the US, desert wheatgrass and crested wheatgrass were thought to be separate species. Today, it grows in the Central and Western United States, but has not been recorded in Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Washington. Its distribution is centered on the Western United States.
