About Agoseris retrorsa (Benth.) Greene
Agoseris retrorsa is a perennial herb. It produces a basal rosette of leaves, and multiple erect, thick, wool-coated inflorescences that can reach up to half a meter in height. Its narrow leaves range from linear to lance-shaped, with a spearlike form and curving toothlike lobes along their edges. Each inflorescence holds a single flower head that becomes several centimeters wide when fully open. The flower head is lined with woolly, pointed green phyllaries, which often have reddish purple longitudinal streaks or stripes. The flower head contains many golden yellow ray florets, and the outer florets are usually darker in color. Its fruit is an achene topped with a plumelike pappus made of white bristles.
