About Agnorisma bollii Grote, 1881

Agnorisma bollii Grote, 1881 is a moth species that belongs to the family Noctuidae. This species is described as "apparently rare" across its entire range, and has only been recorded in a limited number of locations west of the Appalachian Mountains, plus the Chesapeake Bay region of Maryland. Confirmed populations of the moth are known from the U.S. states of Maryland, Ohio, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Kansas. Specimens have also been discovered in South Carolina, but it is too early to determine whether this represents a newly introduced population or a surviving remnant population of the species. The wingspan of adult Agnorisma bollii is approximately 32 millimeters. Depending on their location, adults are active on the wing from August through October. The plant species that serves as a host for the moth's larvae is currently unknown.
