About Aglaia elaeagnoidea (A.Juss.) Benth.
Aglaia elaeagnoidea (A.Juss.) Benth. produces bright red, hard timber. Its bark is greyish brown, and can exude white latex. Its leaves are alternate, compound, and imparipinnate; the leaf blade ranges from narrow-elliptic to oblanceolate in shape, with an apex that is bluntly acute to subacuminate, and a base that is acute to cuneate. Its flowers are arranged in axillary panicle inflorescences. Its fruit is an indehiscent globose berry that is brown or red. The hard wood of this species is a good material for construction. Aboriginal peoples in Taiwan have historically often used this wood to build houses, and it can also be used to make a variety of utensils.
