About Agave scabra Ortega
Agave scabra Ortega forms suckering rosettes that reach 0.7โ1 metre (2.3โ3.3 ft) in height and 1.5โ2 metres (4.9โ6.6 ft) in width. Its overall form is similar to that of many other agave species. Its glaucous bluish-green leaves are mostly reflexed and have a rough, sandpaper-like texture. The plant produces an inflorescence that can grow up to 4.5 metres (15 ft) tall, bearing yellow flowers in the summer. This species is native to the Chihuahuan Desert and surrounding regions of northeastern Mexico and Texas, where it grows at elevations between 500โ1,500 metres (1,600โ4,900 ft).
