About Agathodes designalis Guenée, 1854

Agathodes designalis, commonly known as the sky-pointing moth, is a species of moth that belongs to the Crambidae family. It was first described by Achille Guenée in 1854. This species is found in Arizona, Texas, Florida, southern South America, and the West Indies. The forewings of adult moths measure between 13 and 18.5 millimeters in length. In Florida, adults are active from May through September, producing four generations per year. The larvae of this moth feed on plant species from the genera Erythrina, Inga, and Citharexylum, including Erythrina flabelliformis. Summer and fall generation larvae feed on the leaves of their host plants, while spring generation larvae feed on the host plant flowers.
