Aethriamanta brevipennis (Rambur, 1842) is a small dragonfly. Males have dark reddish-brown eyes, a dark chocolate-brown thorax on the dorsum and humeral region that fades to a paler color on the sides, transparent wings tinted deep golden-amber at the base, and bright red abdomens and anal appendages. Females share the same general body structure as males, but have greenish-yellow coloration instead. This species breeds in weedy ponds and lakes.
