About Aetheorhiza bulbosa subsp. bulbosa

Sonchus bulbosus, commonly known as tuberous hawk's-beard, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Asteraceae. This species is a tuberous geophyte, and is native to Mediterranean basin countries in southern Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa, as well as to Terceira island in the Azores and Ireland. Three subspecies of Sonchus bulbosus are currently accepted. Sonchus bulbosus subsp. bulbosus, which has the synonyms Hieracium stoloniferum Viv. and H. tuberosum Brot., is found in the Mediterranean basin, Azores (Terceira), and Ireland. Sonchus bulbosus subsp. microcephalus (Rech.f.) N.Kilian & Greuter is found in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Syria. Sonchus bulbosus subsp. willkomii (Burnat & Barbey) N.Kilian & Greuter is found in the Balearic Islands.
