Aechmea mariae-reginae is a species of the genus Aechmea that is endemic to Central America, specifically occurring in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras. This species is one of the few dioecious members of the subfamily Bromelioideae, and it is the only dioecious species within the entire genus Aechmea.
