About Aechmea blanchetiana (Baker) L.B.Sm.
Commonly called the orangeade bromeliad, Aechmea blanchetiana (Baker) L.B.Sm. usually produces many thorny, long leaves. The plant’s overall length increases as it matures, reaching up to 90 cm (36 inches), and it can grow up to 120 cm (4 feet) in height when including its stalk. While the species is known for its orange colouration, individual plants may also be green, crimson, or yellow. In its natural habitat, this bromeliad is most often pollinated by hummingbirds, though it can also be pollinated by bees, bats, and other pollinators. Like other bromeliads, this species typically reproduces by growing pups, but it can also reproduce sexually through producing seeds. Aechmea blanchetiana is most often terrestrial, but it can also grow as an epiphyte.
