About Adromischus hemisphaericus (L.) Lem.
Adromischus hemisphaericus is a small, decumbent, branching succulent with growth habit that can vary. Mature grey branches develop peeling bark and grow up to 8 mm in diameter. Young branches are purplish-green before maturing to grey. Its leaves are grey with purple spots, may flake off wax, and are mostly flat and ovate, with slightly convex upper and lower surfaces. Leaves can reach 3.5 cm in length and 2.4 cm in width. In mid-summer, the plant produces 25 cm tall inflorescences that hold many tubular flowers. The flowers have greenish-brown sepals, topped with triangular light pink petals. Adromischus hemisphaericus is endemic to the Western Cape, South Africa. Its populations grow on the Cape Peninsula, occur sparsely east of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, and range from Caledon to Worcester.
