About Adriana quadripartita (Labill.) Müll.Arg.
Adriana quadripartita, commonly known as bitter bush, is a shrub that belongs to the Euphorbiaceae plant family. This species is endemic to southern Australia, and has an erect open growth habit, reaching heights between 0.5 and 3 metres, and sometimes growing even taller. Its leaves are lanceolate or ovate, arranged oppositely along stems, with coarse teeth along the edges and a hairless, glabrous upper surface. The leaves measure 5 to 10 cm in length and 2 to 4 cm in width. Male flowers form spikes that can grow up to 17 cm long. Female flowers grow on separate individual plants from male flowers, and appear in clusters. After flowering, plants produce ovoid capsules that are approximately 1 centimetre in diameter. This species can be propagated from cuttings. Its pubescent form can be planted as a protective screen to block salt spray in coastal areas.
