About Adenostyles alliariae (Gouan) A.Kern.
Adenostyles alliariae (Gouan) A.Kern. can reach a height of 40โ70 centimetres (16โ28 in). Its inflorescence is made up of dense corymbs, which are carried on hairy peduncles. The small flower heads usually contain 3 to 4 flowers each. The receptacle, the structure that supports the individual flowers, is naked and hairless. The flowers are tubular and hermaphroditic, with a cylindrical pink-violet corolla that is 7โ8 mm long. This species flowers from June to August. Its basal leaves are large, kidney-shaped or heart-shaped with toothed margins. Basal leaves measure 6โ9 centimetres (2.4โ3.5 in) in length and 12โ14 centimetres (4.7โ5.5 in) in width. Cauline (stem) leaves are arranged alternately along the stem, decrease in size moving upward, and are borne on petioles. Two large leaflets at the base of each petiole wrap around the stem. This species is thought to have originated in mountainous regions of southern Europe. It grows best in wooded areas with tall grasses, rocks, and moraines, at elevations between 1,300 and 2,400 metres (4,300โ7,900 ft).
