About Acrotriche prostrata F.Muell.
Acrotriche prostrata F.Muell. is a trailing shrub with prostrate main stems and short side branches. It usually reaches a maximum height of around 15 cm (5.9 in), and its small branchlets are covered in hairs. Its leaves spread widely, and are lance-shaped to egg-shaped. They measure 4โ16 mm (0.16โ0.63 in) long, 1โ8 mm (0.039โ0.315 in) wide, and end in a sharp point. Flowers are arranged in spikes holding 5 to 14 individual flowers, growing on wood from the previous year or older wood. Each flower has bracteoles 2โ3 mm (0.079โ0.118 in) long. The sepals are 2.8โ4.0 mm (0.11โ0.16 in) long. The petals are light green, joined at the base to form a tube 5.5โ6.5 mm (0.22โ0.26 in) long, with petal lobes 2.3โ2.6 mm (0.091โ0.102 in) long. Flowering occurs mostly between April and July. The fruit is an oval, greenish drupe that is 5โ7 mm (0.20โ0.28 in) long. This species, commonly called trailing ground-berry, most often grows in damp forests, and is mostly found in the southern half of Victoria.
