About Acrotome inflata Benth.
Acrotome inflata Benth. is an erect annual herb that reaches a maximum height of 1 metre. Its stems are densely covered in appressed hairs. Its leaves are arranged oppositely, and are either sessile or shortly petiolate. Leaves vary in shape from ovate to oblong-lanceolate, and typically measure 3–12 cm long; they are usually wider on the lower portion of the stem. Leaves are very hairy on both sides, and their margins are rarely crenate-dentate. Flowers are arranged in dense rows within verticillate inflorescences. This species has many bracteoles, which are filiform, grow up to 1 centimetre long, are densely hairy, and end in a spine tip. The corolla colour ranges from white to pale mauve. Acrotome inflata typically grows in dry tropical biomes, with growth patterns that usually depend on the season.
