About Acronicta rubricoma Guenée, 1852

Acronicta rubricoma, commonly known as the ruddy dagger moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. Its distribution ranges from southern Ontario and New York south to central Florida, and extends westward to Texas and eastern Kansas. The species has a wingspan of 38 to 44 millimeters. Depending on location, adult ruddy dagger moths are active on the wing from April to October. This species produces two generations each year. Its larvae feed on the foliage of elm, hackberry, and sumac plants.
