About Acronicta mansueta Smith, 1897
Acronicta mansueta, commonly known as the gentle dagger moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by John Bernhardt Smith in 1897. It was originally classified as a synonym of Acronicta falcula, but was reinstated as a separate valid species in 2011. It has a widespread distribution across western North America, ranging from southern Saskatchewan westward to southern British Columbia, and extending south to at least Colorado and California. The wingspan of adult gentle dagger moths measures between 30 and 32 mm. Depending on their location, adults are active in flight from June to September.
