About Acronicta lepusculina Guenée, 1852

Acronicta lepusculina, commonly called the cottonwood dagger moth, is a species of moth in the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by Achille Guenée in 1852. It is distributed across most of eastern North America, ranging west through southern Canada to Vancouver Island, and extending further southward. The wingspan of adult cottonwood dagger moths measures 40 to 50 mm. Depending on their location, adult moths are active in flight from May to July each year. The caterpillar larvae of this species feed on the leaves of plants from the Salix, Populus, and Betula genera.
