About Acronicta increta Morrison, 1874
Acronicta increta, commonly called the raspberry bud dagger moth, raspberry bud moth, or peach sword stripe night moth, is a moth species in the family Noctuidae. This species was first described by Herbert Knowles Morrison. Its scientific publication currently bears the name Acronicta increta Morrison, 1874. It is distributed across southern Canada, and throughout the United States extending south to Florida and Texas. The taxonomic status of this species is disputed: some authors consider Acronicta increta to be a synonym of Acronicta inclara. The wingspan of adult moths ranges from 28 to 36 mm. Adults are active on the wing from May to September, with flight timing varying by location. The larvae are thought to feed on the leaves of Quercus species.
