About Acronicta betulae Riley, 1884

Acronicta betulae, commonly known as the birch dagger moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. Its distribution ranges from New Hampshire to Florida in eastern North America, extending west to Texas and north to Wisconsin. This species has a wingspan of 35 to 40 mm. Adults have two generations per year, with active flight periods from March to May and from August to September. The larvae of Acronicta betulae feed on birch leaves, and may feed exclusively on Betula nigra.
