About Acronicta afflicta Grote, 1864
Acronicta afflicta (common name the afflicted dagger moth) is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species can be found in Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario in Canada, across Alabama, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Georgia, Maryland, New York and Ohio in the United States, and also in northern Mexico. The wingspan of adult Acronicta afflicta measures approximately 36 mm. Adults are active in flight from May to September, with flight timing varying based on the location. The larvae of this moth feed on a variety of Quercus, or oak, species.
