About Acromyrmex versicolor (Pergande, 1894)

For identification of Acromyrmex versicolor, the average worker individual is 2–6 mm long. Worker ants of this species display a range of different body sizes, which is associated with division of labour within their colony. A. versicolor ants are reddish-brown in colour and have a narrow waist. Their bodies are covered in spines: there are at least four spines on the rear section of the thorax, distinct spines on the rear corners of the head, and small bumps on the abdomen.
