About Acmispon wrangelianus (Fisch. & C.A.Mey.) Sokoloff

Acmispon wrangelianus is a species of legume native to California and Oregon in the southwestern United States. Its common names are Chilean bird's-foot trefoil and Chile lotus; despite these common names, it does not originate from Chile. This species grows in many types of habitat, including areas that have been disturbed. It is a hairy, prostrate annual herb, with slender branches that bear leaves. Each leaf is generally made up of four small leaflets. Its inflorescence consists of a single yellow pealike flower, which is around one centimeter wide. The fruit it produces is a legume pod that measures between one and two centimeters, or 0.39 to 0.79 inches, long.
