About Acmispon decumbens (Benth.) Govaerts

Acmispon decumbens is a species of flowering plant in the legume family Fabaceae. It is native to the western United States, where it occurs in Nevada and California, and to northwestern Mexico, where it occurs in Baja California. George Bentham first described this species in 1836 under the name Hosackia decumbens, and it was later reclassified as Acmispon decumbens (Benth.) Govaerts. This plant grows in multiple habitat types, including mountain forests and meadows.

It is a spreading or mat-forming perennial herb covered with long hairs. Its stems are lined with leaves, each of which is made up of small, green, oval leaflets. The inflorescence holds up to 12 pinkish yellow pealike flowers, each one centimeter long or longer. The fruit produced by this plant is a slender, bent, beaked legume pod.
