About Acleris variana (Fernald, 1886)
Acleris variana, commonly known as the eastern blackheaded budworm, is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. Its range includes Newfoundland, Cape Breton Island, and the north-eastern United States, extending across the coniferous forest region of Canada, and it is thought to reach as far west as Saskatchewan or eastern Alberta. The larvae of this species feed primarily on Abies balsamea (balsam fir) and Picea glauca (white spruce).
