About Acleris bergmanniana (Linnaeus, 1758)
Acleris bergmanniana, commonly known as the yellow rose button moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. Its distribution ranges across most of Europe, extending eastward to the eastern Palearctic realm. Adults have a wingspan of 12 to 15 millimeters. The forewings have a yellow base color, marked with three narrow, metallic blue-grey transverse bands that are edged with rufous. The forewings also have distinct, sharply angled wing tips. In the center of each forewing sits a small round black spot, which is formed by a tuft of upright dark scales. There are an additional two small raised tufts of black scales on the forewings. Adult yellow rose button moths are active on the wing between June and July. The larvae of this species feed on the leaves and shoots of rose species from the genus Rosa, specifically including Rosa canina, as well as Rhamnus cathartica.
