Introduction Acer caudatum, commonly known as candle-shape maple, is an Asian species of maple tree. It can be found in the Himalayas (including Tibet, Nepal, northern and northeastern India, and Myanmar), the mountains of southwestern China (including Gansu, Henan, Hubei, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Yunnan), as well as Japan, Korea, and eastern Russia. Acer caudatum is a deciduous tree that grows up to 10 meters tall. Its leaves are up to 12 cm across, thin and papery, dark green on the upper surface, and lighter green on the underside. Leaves usually have 5 lobes, though they occasionally have 7.
